WHAT IS MONDAY MADE?
Welcome welcome welcome to Monday Made!
This is blog number 1 so it is a big day for me :) I’m Stacey and I’m behind everything you’ll see here.
Monday Made has taken on a few lives up to this point, but at its core, it’s…
the best outcomes of my trial and error years as a project manager, chronic procrastinator, small business owner, and productivity nerd.
I got my professional start as a graphic designer and design strategist but several years into that career I went back to school for Project Management, because I saw a blindspot that was, in retrospect, the beginning of Monday Made.
On most teams, the best designer would eventually get promoted to be the lead or the project manager of the team. It makes sense on the surface — the person best at the job levels up. But, when you look critically, you’ve distanced someone from the skillset they were excellent at (designing), and asked them to perform a job they are usually not trained for (project manage).
skills ≠ leadership
We make this mistake all. the. time.
Especially as small business owners.
One of the things I keep coming back to is how hard it is to be the project manager of your own business — and I’m trained to do just that. But there’s a little unicorn moment that is really hard to achieve.
The best creatives and the best idea-generators do not always make the strongest business owners. They aren’t always naturally overlapping skillsets and we’re bound to have a lot of blindspots in that mythical unicorn zone.
If we want to make it work, running our own businesses, we have to fuel our unicorn with the right stuff. If you’re thinking rainbow candies and glitter juice, you’re not completely off-base.
It’s that blend of tools that is perfectly unique to you, the things that help your blindspots find their way and make connections between your disconnects.
Ok but… what is Monday Made?
Yeah, you’re right. Long winded way of telling you that Monday Made is here to:
Help you skip some errors and get straight to solutions
Trial and error has been a staple for me, but that can’t really go on forever. At some point all of that trial and error should start generating helpful solutions. I’ll share my favorite outcomes of my trial-and-error-habit so you can skip ahead to the solutions.
Give working professionals and current + aspiring business owners a boost
What I wish I had when I started a business was 1) someone to give me a boost and 2) the confidence to ask for it.
So, open-ended invitation to accept my boost, whether you’re starting a business, wanting to run your life more efficiently and aligned, or have a specific goal you want to target, I’m here to help you make it happen.
Share my learning and the importance of working with your style
I found a ton of chill and freedom once I acknowledged that my work style could be so many different things, and that’s what I want to help you cultivate. These lessons have served me pretty well so far, it’s time they start serving someone else too!
Thanks for being here! You can always learn more through the about section. So much more to come!
